Intro to Blown Glass! Sunday, October 13th 10am-1pm
In this 3-hour class, students will learn how to safely use a torch and melt COE 33 borosilicate glass rods and tubes to create small glass items. Learn to melt, blow, and sculpt glass tubes to create a small sculpture, make loops to then attach to a blown ornament, and decorate a blow glass into the world’s tiniest mug! Participants can expect to go home with the items they create, or have them annealed (molecularly stabilized) in the kiln for pick up at a later date.
All tools, glass, and safety equipment provided. Please wear long hair tied back, closed toe shoes, and avoid baggy sleeves. Be sure to bring water to stay hydrated, and paper and writing utensil if you'd like to take notes.
Classes are formulated for adults. Kids aged 9+ may take a class alongside an adult; both child and adult must be individually registered to take the class. Ages 14-17 may take the class individually with a guardian's release.
Release form (included in confirmation e-mail) is required for all attendees prior to taking the class. Please be sure to enter an e-mail address upon checkout to ensure you receive this e-mail!
